I haven’t blogged in a while. Life has been busy and stressful and all consuming. However, my sister had a fantastic idea about how to make Thanksgiving a shared meal and be safe. Its so great that I need to share it with all of you.
She suggested that rather than eat together we (her husband and kids, my brother, sis-in-law and nephew, my husband and kid and my parents), all stay in our respective homes but cook some of the same menu items as each other. Then we can Zoom and still be eating the same things at the same time, albeit in different homes.
Is it our traditional Thanksgiving meal? No, of course not. But, it will be nice to know that I am eating delicious mushroom pie (don’t knock it until you try it!!), candied yams, cornbread stuffing, roasted veggies, etc. as my family eats the same thing.
We are in the process of working out the menu, now. I am feeling really excited about this Thanksgiving plan. I can keep my family safe and still see them for the meal. This feels a lot better than what I thought was going to happen.
